  • Ok.  I was speaaking to my mother on the phone last night, and she mentioned how I only have one week left here already, and started talking about things we need to do when I get back.  It was at that point it hit me: going back there after 2 weeks here is gonna kill me. Where I live now doesn't completely suck, the town does, but my neighborhood is cool.  I just like it better here in the city, a taste of freedom from the same routine and the watchful eye of my parents , I guess.

    So let the job hunt here begin again. Uggh.  Constant reminders of how few skills I have that actually apply to the real world.  I do know how to write, so re-working my resume to make what little real work experience I've had seem more important shouldn't be too hard...

  • Is it wrong to to drop money on books at a chain bookstore a week before going to a huge bookfair where there will be a ton of used ones at cheap prices?

    Good, I thought so.

    Did a little bit of shopping with my sister and actually bought things for once. Nothing terribly usefull, but books and cds are still important.

    We had to stop and PetSmart and while there, we checked out the cats that have for adoption.  In one cage, there were 3 kittens, 2 white ones, and 1 gray one, all from the same litter.  We stood there fussing over how cute they were, while a couple came to look at them too.  One of the employees came walking by and said that they'd prefer somone to adopt the white ones as a pair.  Then I started thinking this, "What about the gray one?" He can be separated from the rest just because he looks different?  He's just as cute, if not cuter than the other two.  That's just not fair..

    Ok, maybe I need to stop thinking so much...

  • edit(after about 10 hours of sleep):

    I realize that I will never get tired of visitung the Art Institute.  There's always something I haven't noticed, or a new gallery I haven't walked into before.  It's always awesome to see art I've only seen photos of liive and in person.

    Yesterday was one of those rainy-yet-warm days, perfect for walking around in the city, not really needing be anywhere while everytone else seems to be in a hurry to get somewhere.  That reminds me of one observation I made: as long as there's great music and conversation, traffic jams don't seem so annoying...

    Browsed the shops in the Belmont and Clark area, that's always interesting, very cool stuff that I never seem to need and usually talk myself out of buying.

    Got home last night and watched the first episode of Angel(it worked! Thanks again.), but was too exhausted to do anything else...

    An excellent time, in my opinion.

  • I really need a lesson in typing on a laptop pc.  I feel like a spaz teen in a junior high typing class.

    Made it to the big city. I'm exhausted from last night's lack of sleep and not really unpacked yet, but here. I'm considering this a vacation, at least from my mom.  Everybody needs one of those every now and then, even those who get along with their parents, in my opinion.

    My kitty, who I was able to bring with, seems to be doing ok.  He's finally adjusting to being here again, though he spent a couple of hours hiding behind the stove, his favorite "secret" hiding place.  He was meowing and attempting to climb the walls a while ago, weird behavior that is quite normal for him.

     Well, I'm quite sleepy and it looks like I've won a fabulous opportunity to sleep on a couch that's almost a foot too short for me. It'll be interesting to see how that goes.  It's actually better than the mattress on the floor on which I used to sleep while here.
